Since November, 2020, Google Ads is invoicing additional taxes to advertisers for clicks registered in Austria, in the UK, and Turkey. According to Google, the fee is driven by new digital services taxes in those countries.
It doesn’t matter the location of the advertisers, but only if the ads are served on those countries. The taxes are:
5% in Austria
5% in Turkey
2% in the UK
Google Ads taxes are applied on top of the budget spent in the platform, only when users receive the invoice.
Google says the fees are charged based on the number of ad impressions or clicks that are served in a specific country.
